News and Updates

The 2010 Spring Conference was hosted by Chemeketa Community College April 7 - 9.  Wednesday and Thursday training was taught by the Western Community Policing Institute on "Creating Vigilant, Prepared, and Resilient Communities for Homeland Security."  They focused the training to fit into our campus community roles. We broke into groups and picked different scenarios to work on from planning commencement, to earthquake preparedness, relocating offices due to a catastrophy and sheltering in place. On Friday Bill Kohlmeyer and his threat assessment group presented plans on creating teams and how they work on campus.  It was a short day and hope to schedule a two day session on this for future conferences. This will be great training for not only us in security but for human resource, residence life, and student services deans as well.

Sorry we didn't see you all there!!!

The 2009 Fall Conference was held at Lane Community College in Eugene, Oregon. Thank-you Katherine Vos and James Harris for your help!

We held a strategic planning session on Thursday morning and a survey will be sent to all WACLEA members to vote on what was discussed. After a presentation by our corporate sponsor CompuNet we enjoyed a nice lunch on them. Pat Sturgill will continue serving on the board as Immediate Past Presidnt, Rocky Wallace was elected Vice-President, Eddie Aubrey was nominated for a second term as Treasurer, Barbara Pierce will contine into her second year as Secretary and the new representatives were announced as follows:
